Stage 3 LLS Project Area "A"
The initial grant in 2013 came from the Catchment Management Authority and was to cover the area outlined in the above image (A), an area of approximately 1.1 ha. The CMA has now been renamed to Local Land Services.

The project for this grant was to eradicate bitou bush, lantana and blackberry and to re-establish the locally indigenous vegetation and a minimum of 550 tubestock were to be planted.

It was required to re-establish a native 80metre vegetation corridor to re-connect with the existing Melaleuca quinquenervia forest. Annual photo point monitoring was required according to CMA protocols.

Using 20metre quadrats defined by star pickets in a grid system enabled precise photographic and project diary monitoring. Bi-anual measurement of plant cover survival was recorded in daily diary.

Photo points established from the grid system can then be utilized to record imagery at regular intervals over the 5 year maintenance program.

Stage 3 LLS Project Area "B"

This project area (Shown as area B above) was considerably larger and its aim again was to eradicate the weed invasion of bitou bush and lantana and plant endemic tube stock propagated in our facility at Budgewoi. Our 8 to 12 man team meeting twice weekly carried out over 520 man hours and planted up to 1500 plants.

The cost effectiveness of our facility allowed us to purchase additional equipment such as a water pump and hose reel to assist in injection watering of new plantings.

Access to this site was a challenge at all stages of the work as steeper terrain required complete manual processes for weed spraying, weeding, planting and watering.

The entire site is already showing signs of improved biodiversity through improved plant regrowth, native bird species and fauna such as echidna and wallabies

Stage 3 LLS Project Area "C"
This project area (shown as area C above) was 1.75 ha in size and its aim again was to eradicate the weed invasion of bitou bush and lantana and plant endemic tube stock propagated in our facility at Budgewoi. Our 8 to 12 man team meeting twice weekly carried out over 1000 hours

We were able to purchase an additional splatter gun for spraying the bitou bush

Access to this site was a challenge at all stages of the work as inaccessible terrain required complete manual processes for weed spraying, weeding, planting and watering. We were able to employ a forest mulcher to process much of the area.
